Boys Basketball: Plainfield Central Uses Defense to Stop Spartans

Plainfield Central 56, Romeoville 47. Second half surge the difference in win over Romeoville.

The Hot Read:  Justin Scanlan’s rebound and putback with three minutes remaining gave Plainfield Central the lead for good as the Wildcats overcame an abysmal night at the free throw line to win their final regular season game 56-47 over Romeoville. Plainfield made only 19 of 39 from the foul line, but outscored Romeoville 35-16 in the second half to get the win. 

Patch’s MVP: Justin Scanlan shrugged off a number of hard fouls to score 11 of his 16 points in the second half.  He also had seven rebounds for the Wildcats.

 Key Stats: After putting up 40 points in the first half, Romeoville managed to score only 16 points after halftime and had just seven in the fourth quarter.
