And Romeoville A.V. Martinez Middle School is inviting parents or other family members to join their children for lunch on that day to celebrate the occasion, according to a Valley View School District news release.
"Parents across the country will be visiting their children's school and having lunch with them on this day," said Mary Jodlowski, from the VVSD Nutrition Services Department, in the news release. "This is an opportunity to learn about everything from what goes into getting a healthy meal onto a child's tray to what the day-to-day lunch experience is like."
Several meal options will be available for parents, the cost ranging from $3 to $3.50. Meal options include a yogurt bistro box, veggie sub, Chic-N-Spud Bowl, wings of fire and a biscuit, cheese stuffed breadstick with marinara sauce, pasta Alfredo with chicken and garlic bread, Big Daddy Sicilian pizza, PBJ Uncrustable with cheese stick, assorted subs and hummus with flatbread.
All of the meals include milk, two vegetables and two fruits. Reservations are preferred. Call Jodlowski at (815) 886-6100.
