Valley View Welcomes New School Board Members

Newcomers Deborah Sykora and Daniel Falese were sworn in as Valley View School District 365U school board members Monday night.

Valley View School District 365U swore in its newly elected school board members Monday night, welcoming newcomers Deborah Sykora and Daniel Falese and bidding farewell to Ronnie Bull and Jim Curran.

Curran did not run for re-election. Bull did run for re-election and was a part of the "Friends of Valley View" slate, but was not re-elected. 

Elizabeth Campbell and Chrystal Hansen were re-elected to the board.

Unofficial vote totals following the April 9 election showed that Daniel Falese led fellow newcomer Jaime Olson by only 109 votes. Falese ran on the "Friends of Valley View" slate. Olson did not. 

With all votes now counted for, Falese received 231 more votes than Olson. 

The school board re-elected Steven Quigley as its president and Rich Gougis as its vice president. The board elected Hansen as its secretary. 

In all three cases, Elizabeth Campbell nominated herself for the position and was the sole vote for herself. The other six candidates all voted for Quigley, Gougis and Hansen, respectively.
