With severe weather headed this way, including frigid temperatures and 4 to 6 inches of snow, officials were proactive Friday morning, canceling all after-school activities and activity buses.

The only exception is the district's elementary school after-school child care program, which will proceed as scheduled, according to a press release.

"The cancelation includes all practices and all scheduled games," Community Relations Director Larry Randa said in the statement. The cancelation was prompted by concern for students and staff, the district said.

According to the National Weather Service, snowfall was expected to begin by late morning and continue through Friday evening. A winter storm warning is in effect until midnight.
