Bolingbrook resident Mir Ali objected to the petitions of Bolingbrook resident Ron Doweidt and Romeoville resident Robert Vandiver. Both Doweidt and Vandiver would have been newcomers to the board.

Ali testified that both men had failed to file the proper paperwork to run by the stated Dec. 26 deadline.

Candidates are required to file a statement of economic interest with the county clerk. The receipt of that statement, a statement of candidacy and the candidate's petitions are required to be filed in the district office on or before the close of business on Dec. 26.

In each case, Doweidt and Vandiver filed the statement of economic interest with the district, but this was done after 5 p.m. on Dec. 26.

Ali said that an incomplete application "weighs heavily on the integrity of the process."

"It's like a job application," Ali said. "If you don't fill it out correctly, you don't deserve a job interview."

Rich Gougis and Steve Quigley, members of the district electoral board, cited case law for similar cases. Both decided that for the integrity of the deadline to remain intact, it must be strictly enforced.

The remaining eight candidates include three incumbents and five challengers. The incumbents are Liz Campbell, Ronnie Bull and Chrystal Hansen. The challengers are Deborah Sykora, Sinatra Strong, Daniel Falese, Tonia Young Barr and Jaime Olson.

Tom get w/ it. If you're looking for a fight/argument about me being a racist forget about it. You keep bringing it back. So....if I mention that in certain Asian countries it is okay to eat puppies; is that being racist too. The point was Tom from me was who in the hell is MR MIR ALI. . This happens evey election. It's never the "other candidates" that find these techicalities. Politics stinks here in this town & Will county. I'm not argueing that these guidelines should not be followed! Gees man everyone jumps on it. Yes these should be followed...............it's always someone out of the circles that file these charges. Maybe I'm wrong w/this comment & I'm sure all the proppers will respond as the pinkie finger in the air while sipping their tee; shouldn't that be the job of the clerk? We forget her in Bab Brook we have incombants that sit on their own election boards making these decissions. Surely, I would not consider the booted off folks as cheaters, because both Rome/BB............wether it's the VVSB,Chambers of commerce, mayors, trustees, or even mm hospital boards, whatever the cheaters are all ready in office.

"shouldn't that be the job of the clerk?" Who is the Clerk for the Valley View 365U school district that should have objected?
