2 Other People Injured in Fatal Crash

A 53-year-old man and teenage girl were hurt in accident that killed Crest Hill woman.

A 53-year-old man and 16-year-old girl suffered minor injuries in the Weber Road of Crest Hill, police said.

Assistant Police Chief Steven Lucchesi said Spellman was in the right lane heading south on Weber just past 135th Street when the crash occurred around 10:41 a.m. Dec. 30.

“Right after she cleared the intersection, she made a lane change,” Lucchesi said. As Spellman attempted to pass a driver in the left-hand lane, her vehicle crossed the center line and was struck by a northbound car.

The 53-year-old male driver and teenage passenger were transported to Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center in Joliet, where both were treated and released, Lucchesi said.

Spellman was pronounced dead at 11:05 a.m. Friday at . In a press release issued Saturday, the Coroner’s Office said the preliminary cause of death was multiple injuries sustained in the crash.

Lucchesi said police continue to investigate the accident and what caused Spellman’s vehicle to cross the center line.
