Trooper Teaches Incoming Freshmen Lesson at Romeoville High School

Class of 2018 is given more than a tour of their soon-to-be new surroundings.

A trooper with the Illinois State Police was on hand to assist in rolling out the welcome mat on Incoming Freshman Night Thursday at Romeoville High School.

DeAnn Falat spoke to students, including eighth-grader Amariah Scott, about the dangers of texting while driving and called on volunteers to take a test drive on the State Police Simulator, according to a Valley View School District news release.

And the simulated driving experience of Scott was captured in a Valley View photo shared with Patch.
