School Hosts Veterans Breakfast

Event is free for current and former servicemen and women, $3 in advance for other guests.

Veterans and other community members are invited to enjoy a pancake breakfast, plus a performance of patriotic songs courtesy of second-graders next month.

Third-grade teacher Andrea Allen said the school is planning its first Veterans Day Breakfast, scheduled for 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 19 at the school, 775 Normantown Road.

The breakfast is free for veterans and $3 in advance for all other guests. Admission is $4 the day of the event. Guests will enjoy a musical performance and a McDonald’s breakfast of pancakes, sausage, juice and coffee.

Those who plan to attend should contact Allen at allenar@365u.will.k12.il.us or call the school at 815-886-8384.

Allen said the event is intended to show appreciation to area veterans.

“Our whole thing is community involvement, being a part of the community,” she said of Skoff. “We wanted to reach out to the veterans.”
