New VVSD Board Will Be Sworn in Thursday

Originally scheduled for April 25, the Valley View board of education meeting was moved to April 28.

A Valley View Board of Education meeting originally scheduled for Monday has been shifted to Thursday night so that the winners of the April 5 election can be sworn in.

The meeting was postponed because the Will County Clerk’s office is not due to release the certified election results, including provisional and grace-period ballots, until April 26, a day after the originally scheduled meeting.

Four-year board members Steve Quigley, Leo Venegas and Rick Gougis, all incumbents, will be sworn in, along with newcomer Chrystal Hansen.

Hansen, co-pastor of Living Water Community Church in Bolingbrook, will serve a two-year term on the board.

State law requires newly elected officials to be sworn in within 30 days of election day. That means the next scheduled Valley View meeting, slated for May 9, would have been too late.

The public portion of the April 28 meeting will begin at 7:30 p.m. at the Valley View administration center, 755 Dalhart Drive.
