Martinez 'Class Cash' Program Gains Foothold with Grant from Walmart

Romeoville middle school teacher rewards students who make the grade on any Odyssey activity.

Jackie Kerr knows how to get the attention of her students at Romeoville's A.V. Martinez Middle School.

Class Cash.

Kerr, an enhancement teacher at the school, recently received a $750 grant from the Walmart Foundation to help fund the "Class Cash" incentive program she developed, according to a news release from the Valley View School District.

And she showed off the check while Principal Sarah DeDonato and some her students looked on in a bit of holiday wonderment. Kerr's "Class Cash" program rewards students who score 80 percent or higher on any Odyssey activity.
