Lewis' Electronic Music Fest Set for Oct. 11-13

Electronic Music Midwest features the highly acclaimed percussionist Andrew Spencer as their guest performer for this year’s festival October, 11–13 at the Philip Lynch Theatre at Lewis University in Romeoville.

The event is free and open to the public. Spencer will perform at least once in every concert after the opening, and EMM will include its own mix of one-minute miniatures from the internationally acclaimed 60x60 project set as an audio installation welcoming audiences to each concert.

Spencer has performed as a soloist in the United States, Poland, Japan, Canada, and Costa Rica. He is timpanist with the West Michigan and Lansing Symphony Orchestras, and has performed in the Oregon Symphony, Spokane Symphony, and the Civic Orchestra of Chicago.

EMM brings a wide variety of electroacoustic music to the Midwest. The festival consists of nine short concerts about one hour in length from Thursday to Saturday containing a host of international composers and musicians presenting and performing new works. Electronic Music Midwest will present the works of more than 100 composers. It will open with “SoundProof,” a West Coast trio performing “Fifteen Minutes of Fame” as well as longer works.

The festival brings together vibrant and interesting artists of all forms. Composers have traveled from around the world to share their music with audiences in the Midwest. EMM creates a pleasant experience for audiences to listen to new works and speak with their creators in person. It is a unique opportunity to meet an international community of composers and musicians creating the music of tomorrow, today.
