Hill Students Realize the Importance of Giving

Kids take part in Make a Difference Day

Youngsters who are sick or homeless will receive a little bit of cheer over the next few weeks courtesy of School’s Make-A-Difference Day.

Some 154 Hill students in kindergarten through fifth grade spent their Monday afternoon making greeting cards and putting them in decorated bags along with a book and a stuffed lion, panda bear or dolphin. The bags are headed for several hospitals, including Silver Cross, Provena St. Joseph and Stroger, as well as to a homeless shelter and to the to be given to children who are being transported to a hospital via ambulance.

“This is a chance for them to show it’s about giving, not always just receiving,” said Hill kindergarten teacher Cheryl Chambers, who launched the annual effort eight years ago.
