Four VVSD Schools Receive Earth Awards

The county awards were presented Wednesday in Joliet.

Four schools received Earth Awards in recognition of their commitment to environmental awareness during ceremonies at Billie Limacher Bicentennial Park in Joliet Wednesday.

Schools that received the Earth Award, which is sponsored by the Will County Land Use Department, included and elementary schools and and middle schools.

“You are proof that every small amount of environmental awareness can have a big impact,” County Environmental Educator Wyn Hyzer told the more than 300 students from more than a dozen Earth Award schools. “Big changes can take place with the simplest decisions.”

“It’s going to take a new generation of fresh ideas to meet environmental goals for the future,” added Curt Paddock, Director of the Will County Land use Department. “Only you can do it.”
