Final 15: Lineup Set for Super Bowl of Spelling in Valley View School District

Feb. 4 event begins at 6:30 p.m. at Humphrey Middle School in Bolingbrook.

Fifteen middle school students will vie for the Valley View School District 365U Spelling Bee championship at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 4 at Humphrey Middle School.

The top finisher from each of the five VVSD middle schools will also qualify for the March 6 Will County Spelling Bee where they will have a chance to qualify for the Scripps-Howards National Spelling Bee in Washington, DC.

The only returnee from last year’s VVSD Spelling Bee participants is Humphrey Middle School 7th grader John Belser who finished third.

Other participants this year include:

Addams Middle School: Tosin Owolabi, 6th grade; Mark Lou, 7thgrade; and Michael Edwards, 8th grade

Brooks Middle School: Nafay Abdul, 6th grade; Alina Khan, 7thgrade; and Christopher Bavaro, 8th grade

Humphrey Middle School: Ximena Nevarez, 6th grade; Belser, 7thgrade; and Janielle Javier, 8th grade

Lukancic Middle School: Franki Miller, 6th grade; Anthony Talaganov, 7th grade; and Kaitlayn Jones, 8th grade

Martinez Middle School: Isidro Gomez, 6th grade; Derrick Perkins, 7th grade; and Martin Luis C. Rayos Del Sol, 8th grade

Parents and community members are invited to attend the VVSD Spelling Bee. There is no admission charge.
