Robert Girardi to deliver Civil War Sesquicentennial Lecture Series April 6 at Lewis University
As part of the Civil War Sesquicentennial Lecture Series, “Why They Fought and What They Faced: The Experiences of Civil War Soldiers” will be held at 1 p.m. on April 6 in the Sancta Alberta Chapel located on Lewis University’s main campus in Romeoville.
Of the Civil War Roundtable, Robert Girardi will be delivering the lecture. A Civil War reenactor, Girardi holds a master’s degree in history from Loyola University. He has also published numerous books and articles about the military history of the Civil War.
Lewis University is hosting a Civil War Sesquicentennial Lecture Series to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the start of the Civil War on April 12, 1861 with the firing on Fort Summer. Lectures will focus on the role of women abolitionists, the experiences of the common soldier and Chicago’s role in the war effort.
