McAsey, Brookfield Zoo Present 'Making Science Fun' for Teachers

State Rep. Emily McAsey is partnering with the Brookfield Zoo to offer a Making Science Fun program for educators on Monday, May 7 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Joliet Junior College (JJC) Romeoville Campus, 1125 West Romeo Road, Romeoville in the conference room.  The presentation will illustrate ways to engage students in science using non-traditional teaching methods.

“As a former educator, I understand that introducing material in new and unique ways can encourage students to more actively participate in the learning process,” McAsey said.  “Partnering with the Brookfield Zoo will help educators provide innovative educational opportunities for area students.”

The Making Science Fun presentation will feature experts from the Brookfield Zoo discussing new methods to get students involved in science, such as strategically paring science with other subjects and taking science learning outside of the classroom and into the students’ every-day life.  While this presentation is geared to local educators, area residents are welcome to attend.  Attendees of the presentation will receive 2 CPDU credits.
