Lewis University to celebrate Earth Day and Arbor Day with conservation projects

In celebration of Earth Day and Arbor Day, Lewis University in Romeoville will host an event from 2-5 p.m. on April 20 and another event will be held from 2-4 p.m. on April 27. Highlights of the events include removing invasive plant species from the nature trail and planting native trees along the nature trail to replace the invasive species.

Last year, Earth Day and Arbor Day were a great success. Any and all able volunteers are invited to help in the effort to make Lewis University a more sustainable campus. All volunteers will receive a free “Going Green” T-shirt.

The events are sponsored by Lewis University’s Environmental and Energy Conservation Council.

Lewis University has been named a Tree Campus USA by the Arbor Day Foundation two consecutive years. The Romeoville campus has enough trees to also be considered an arboretum with programs available to dedicate a tree to a special person or cause.
