African storyteller visits Lewis University on Feb. 8 as part of touring series

Storyteller Shanta performs at 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 8 in the Sancta Alberta located on the University’s main campus in Romeoville as part of the Arts & Ideas touring series.

Shanta will encircle her audience in an unforgettable experience of African culture. Shanta’s performance features not only stories, but also poetry, chants and the spellbinding sounds of musical instruments of African origin. Melding the work of her own creative spirit with African folktales and contemporary African-American perspectives, Shanta’s stories focus on empowerment, peace, healing and self-discovery and the many ways in which people attain them.

Non-refundable $10 tickets for the performance may be purchased through the Philip Lynch Theatre.
