In an effort to assist Spanish-speaking community members with potential communications and cultural issues, VVSD will again offer free English-as-a-Second-Language classes for adults this fall.

The federally-funded classes, scheduled for every Tuesday and Thursday from Sept. 11 to Nov. 20 at both Romeoville and , will feature three levels: basic, intermediate and advanced. Levels will be determined through past experience in similar VVSD classes or, for new students, through placement exams at 5 p.m. either Aug. 28 or Aug. 30 in Room D235 at Bolingbrook High School.

Registration forms for the classes, available by contacting Yadi Mata at 815-886-2700, Ext. 536 or MataYP@vvsd.org,  must be in the school district’s hands by Aug. 10.

Enrollment is limited to the first 150 people who register. Should more than 150 people sign up, parents and guardians of VVSD students will be given priority.

I remember at Jane Addams in the 80s they had Spanish class. I couldn't take it because I was in band. Now they don't even have these classes anymore! Instead Only ESL classes catering to the immigrants. Before anyone calls me racist my kids are 1/2 Mexican & now how have to wait until high school.
