The National Weather Service issued a special statement Thursday that had the ring of  a bartender serving a wintry cocktail. A frontal boundary is draped across the region and will gradually slip south on Friday as low pressure pushes across the region, the NWS said.

And that means temperatures will drop during the day Friday while lingering moisture may lead to light drizzle persisting from mid-morning into the afternoon hours for much of the Chicago metropolitan area, including Will County.

The NWS said temperatures are expected to be very close to the freezing mark and may fall below, resulting in the possibility for drizzle to freeze on the surface of roadways forming a glaze of ice.

And that’s only the beginning. On Saturday, there is a 60 percent chance of more rain/sleet. And, on Sunday, the rain is expected to give way to snow as temperatures fall from a daytime high of 33 to a low of 11.

Can you say, “Yuk!”
