Waste Management Delays Garbage Pickup Because of Extreme Cold

Village officials announce 'holiday schedule' for residential garbage pickup in Romeoville.

In the 1964 television adaptation of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Yukon Cornelius says to Hermey, "It isn't a fit night out for man nor beast."

We only wish we had fog—and pea soup—to contend with in northern Illinois.

Instead, we're stuck with snow and record-breaking cold temperatures. And closings.

The latest: Waste Management will delay residential pickup of garage in Romeoville, according to an email alert issued by Village officials.

The alert reads like this:

"Due to the recent winter storm, Waste Management is delaying Monday's residential pickup across the area for one day. Waste Management crews will operate this week on a holiday schedule.

"All Monday routes will be collected Tuesday. All Tuesday routes will be collected Wednesday and so on. As driving is not recommended, this move will allow plows to safely remove the snow and keep the roads clear for emergency vehicles."
