Village to Vote on Budget, Electric Aggregation Plan

Meeting is at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Village Hall.

The is scheduled to vote Wednesday on a resolution to approve a of $91.4 million.

The numbers represent a 6 percent decrease from this year’s budget, and will amount to a $4 savings for the average taxpayer on next year’s tax bill, Mayor John Noak has said.

The village is also considering another tax rebate in the form of a $20 discount on residents’ October water bills.

Electric aggregation

The second of two on a proposal to create an Electric Power Aggregation Plan of Governance and Operation will also take place before at the start of the 6 p.m. meeting, at Village Hall, 1050 W. Romeo Rd.

Under the plan, residents will have the right to opt out and stick with ComEd even if a deal is struck to secure lower rates from a competitor.

The board is also slated to vote on an intergovernmental agreement to form the Will Electrical Aggregation Group, which will unite Romeoville with 17 other towns that passed the March 20 electric aggregation referendum.

East Side Plan

Trustees will vote on resolution to adopt the prepared by Teska & Associates.

The plan is the result of research by the consulting firm, input from village staff and feedback from residents and area transportation agencies.

Police equipment purchase

The board is also scheduled to vote on the following proposed equipment purchases for the

  • Four squad cars from Sutton Ford, not to exceed $100,000
  • One unmarked squad from Green Chevrolet, not to exceed $30,000
  • Squad equipment including radar, radios, cameras and other devices, not to exceed $100,000 total.
