Village Poised to Ink Contract for Downtown Redevelopment Design
Board meets at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Village Hall.
In another step toward making a revitalized downtown Romeoville a reality, the village board is scheduled to vote Wednesday on a contract to retain Naperville-based Hitchcock Design Group as the architect behind the project.
The contract would cost the village $28,000, plus reimbursement for expenses including printing, mileage and courier services, according to village documents.
Hitchcock Design Group is the firm behind the 2003 Downtown Redevelopment Master Plan.

Grant could fund park improvements
The director of parks and recreation is slated to bring a request before the board to apply for an Illinois Department of Natural Resources grant that could provide $400,000 toward the redevelopment of , located near the former site of village hall at 17 Montrose Drive.

The Open Space Land Acquisition and Development (OSLAD) grant would fund roughly half of the project, which Kelly Rajzer will include adding a handicapped-accessible playground, splash pad, picnic shelter, restrooms and parking.
- A $47,440 pact with design firm PSA Dewberry for the future restroom facility and concession bulding near the amphitheater at .
- A redevelopment agreement with Mickey’s Tire & Service, 49 W. Normantown Road, under which the village would provide the business with $40,000 to help make tax increment financing district (TIF)-funded improvements.
- A $537,354 contract with George’s Landscaping for the Spangler Road reconstruction project.
- An $810,638 contract with Orange Crush, LLC for road resurfacing in Wesglen neighborhoods 1, 2 and 7; Wesglen Parkway, North Wespark Parkway and Romeo Road from Belmont Road to 2,550 feet west of Belmont.
- A contract renewal to retain Coca-Cola as the Romeoville Recreation Center’s beverage provider and sponsor. The contract would give the company the exclusive right to advertise products at the facility.
