Village Launches Economic Development Website

Site offers resources, information for developers and builders.

The village is looking for partners — whether in the form of residential builders, commercial developers or businesses looking to move into Romeoville.

Earlier this month, the Economic Development Commission unveiled a new tool officials hope will bring more commerce to the village, launching the new economic development website.

“It’s geared almost entirely to people who want to invest in the community,” Community Development Director Steve Rockwell said.

Bearing the tagline “A Community of Partners,” the site offers tools for potential Romeoville developers, from a listing of available properties, including existing facilities as well as raw land, to information on village demographics, zoning and the business license application process.

Rockwell said realtors can even list their properties on the site.

“It’s interactive,” he added, saying developers can search by the type of propery and size facility that meets their needs. Rockwell said village staff members are continually working to add listings and up-to-date information to the site.

The site’s launch coincided with the 10th annual developer’s breakfast on Sept. 8. Realtors and developers have started to take notice, Rockwell said.

“Since the developers breakfast, we’ve had four calls this week,” he said.
