State Rep. McAsey Seeks Help in Fight to End Hunger

She is encouraging her constituents to give time or a bag of groceries during Hunger Action Month.

Fact: Nearly 2 million people are considered food insecure in Illinois, this according to state Rep. Emily McAsey.

And she's encouraging her local constituents to give back during the month of September: Hunger Action Month.

"Whether through donating your time or a bag of groceries, we can all do our part to help our neighbors and end hunger," McAsey said in a news release.

She is touting Feeding America and the Northern Illinois Food Bank as two places to seek information and provide help.

"For over 30 years, the Northern Illinois Food Bank has worked to help the needy in communities throughout our region," McAsey said. "In that time, the food bank has grown to distribute more than 35 million pounds of food or 29 million meals each year. I encourage everyone to learn more and help end hunger however they can."
