School Board OKs Software Service, Maintenance Contracts for District

educates more than 18,000 students in 20 schools and employs more than 2,000 full-time employees.  

To keep the district’s technology running smoothly, the responsibility for maintaining instructional and operations software for the hundreds of computers and programs across the district requires a considerable amount of expertise from a variety of vendors.

To that end, the Valley View Board of Education Monday night approved the annual renewal of instructional and operations software maintenance contracts totaling $553,125.

A description of the vendors and cost of each service and maintenance agreement approved by the board is as follows:

AIMSweb, a progress-monitoring system used in Valley View for students in pre-kindergarten through eighth-grade, $4 per student, or $36,000.00;

DEPCO LLC, develops, maintains and updates education curriculum for the career and family and consumer education labs (science, business, marketing and information technology, careers, family and consumer sciences, industrial autormation and pre-engineering) at Brooks, Jane Addams and John J. Lukancic middle schools, $15,000;

Follett Software Co., provides a comprehensive K-12 solution spanning resource, data and learning management systems, $15,000;

Edline Web Hosting,  hosts the district’s web presence for all schools, $11,600;

EdlineGradeQuick Web, allows the district to provide secure access to students’ grade information for all parents and students and to electronically retain student report card data, $35,000;

Education 2020, an online course management tool featuring multimedia presentations and offering students differing access points to information, $19,950.00;

Goldstar Mastery Manager, a student assessment, analysis and data warehouse system to help administrators and teachers create, store, distribute, collect and report measures of student progress, $118,000.00;

NWAEA/MAP, (Northwest Evaluation Association /Measures of Academic Progress), diagnostic assessments that present test questions at varying levels of difficulty according to student responses, $152,000;

Weidenhammer Systems Corporation, develops and supports the district’s student management, scheduling, grading and attendance information system; employee management, application control, financial management and Illinois state coding, $40,000;

BoardDocs Pro, provides and maintains paperless agendas for school board meetings and online postings, $12,000;

BCM/Numera Software Co., support software utilized by technology services and building operations and maintenance, $12,100;

Ericom Software Inc., provides cloud computing services for the district, $18,225;

Parentlink,  communicates information to parents, students, staff and surrounding communities, $39,000; and

Kronos Inc., an employee time and attendance system used for food service, transportation and maintenance departments, $29,250.
