Romeoville Voter Turnout Less Than 10 Percent

According to the Will County Clerk's Office, 9.6 percent of registered village voters made it to the polls Tuesday.

After several Romeoville polling places reported slow but not-so-steady traffic during Tuesday’s election, it’s no surprise that voter turnout in the village was below average for Will County.

According to the Will County Clerk’s Office, 1,724 Romeoville residents voted Tuesday. Including early and absentee voters, the total number of ballots cast came in at 1,863 — less than 10 percent of the village’s 19,253 registered voters.

A representative for the clerk’s office stressed that the figures aren’t final, saying it will take two weeks for all provisional ballots to be counted. According to the office, results for Tuesday’s election won’t be official until April 26.

Countywide, 18.82 percent of the nearly 377,000 registered voters showed up at the polls. That’s right in line with how Will County voters have historically responded to April consolidated elections. In both 2009 and 2007, turnout hovered around 18 percent.
