Romeoville to Get New Warning Sirens

The Romeoville Village Board on Wednesday agreed to purchase two new warning sirens to warn people in the event of severe weather or other emergency.

Trustees approved a $6,191 contract with Federal Signal Corp. of University Park for a siren that will be installed at Deer Crossing Park, 150 W. Romeo Rd. The park, located next to Village Hall, is the site of frequent events in the village.

Mayor John Noak said that siren can also alert people at the nearby Village Park, according to the Chicago tribune.

Another siren, purchased from Crestwood-based Braniff Communications for $16,695, will be installed at the south end of the village. That siren could be installed in a neighborhood or industrial zone.

The village currently has 17 sirens.
