Nail Salon to Leave Spartans’ Square

Fancy Nails is one of three remaining tenants.

Spartans’ Square will soon have one less tenant.

The village board on Wednesday granted a request from  to amend its lease, which was not set to expire until May 2013.

The new pact will have the business out of the shopping center by Aug. 31. Under the deal, the base rent for the space at 625 Access Dr. is suspended, but the business will still have to pay utility costs and other non-rent charges.

The village owns Spartans’ Square and has been working to help relocate its remaining tenants to make way for downtown redevelopment plans.
Once Fancy Nails vacates its space, the two remaining tenants will be a restaurant and a laundromat.

The site, once anchored by an Ace Hardware store, has been largely vacant in recent years. The village recently inked a for cleanup of the site, which could be demolished, depending on the market, to make way for redevelopment.

Circle K gets liquor license

The Circle K gas station, 20 S. Weber Rd., was granted a liquor license during the March 7 meeting.

The site was formerly a Jewel Express station.
