Learn More About Candidates During March 10 Forum

The Romeoville Area Chamber of Commerce's candidates' forum is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Lukancic Middle School.

April 5 is just around the corner—do you know who you’re voting for?

Romeoville residents can learn more about the candidates for village trustee, Valley View School District board of education and the Des Plaines Valley Public Library District during a candidates’ forum at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, at .

The event is the second forum sponsored by the Romeoville Area Chamber of Commerce. The organization previously held a forum prior to the November 2010 election.

Each candidate will get three minutes to give a prepared statement, according to chamber President and CEO Bridget Domberg.

Event chairman Bob Kalnicky said residents can mingle with the candidates in the school cafeteria for 30 minutes before the forum gets under way at 6 p.m.

“We’re expecting a pretty good turnout as far as candidates,” Kalnicky said.

The event is free and open to the public.

“You just need to show up,” he said.

Ten candidates are seeking four spots on the Valley View board of education, including three four-year seats and one two-year term.

Four people, including two incumbents, are running for three spots on the Romeoville village board, and Bernice Holloway is running unopposed for another term as village clerk.

Four candidates are vying for two seats on the library board.
