The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) announced that weather permitting, work on New Avenue from Cook County Line to Archer Avenue in Lemont will begin Tuesday, April 1.
The project involves work to the center line and shoulder, rumble strips and new guardrails. The project will cross 127th Street, 135th Street and Cico Road. Traffic lanes will be reduced during construction activities. The anticipated completion date for this project is June 30, 2014.
Motorists can expect delays during times when the lane closures are in effect and should allow extra time for trips through this area. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to flaggers and signing in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits and be on the alert for workers and equipment.
