I cannot be there, but my comments are, starting this new year the working persons paychecks are going to get smaller as the social security tax rate increases from 4.2 to 6.2. In the next 2 months there will be more political showdowns on to reduce the deficit. Does anybody out there believe our taxes aren't going up when the dust settles? That's the Federal, what about when the state of Illinois addresses the out of control pension problem this year and other problems. I'll ask the same question, does anybody out there think our taxes aren't going up when the dust settles? Now is not the time to ask for an increase of approximately $200.00 for the average home. I heard on the radio the cost is $20 - $21 million for the new library. Maybe they will give the exact amount at Thursday meeting. There are seniors who are on a fixed income who may not be able to afford this increase, you have people who owe more then their house is worth, thru no fault of their own. My point is the library we have now seems more then adequate in this digital age. I will vote no on the library referendum.

Make sure you speak out what you just wrote at your town hall meetings as well.

MM, appreciate your agreeing with my comments, but not everyone can make an 11 am weekday meeting, that's why these posts are the next best thing for people to be heard. Don't get me wrong, we need a library, but we already have one. There's just not enough people using it to justify the cost to taxpayers. Just my opinion.

I will also be voting no on this as well.
