Coming Soon: Romeoville Deal$ Store

The discount retailer will open a store next to Kohl's in the Shops of Romeoville development.

A Romeoville Deal$ store is slated to open sometime in June, according to Romeoville Mayor John Noak. The discount store will join its neighbor, , in the Shops of Romeoville development at 263 S. Weber Road.

On Wednesday, village trustees approved an amendment to the planned unit development (PUD) for the 10,123-square-foot store allowing to erect a 4-foot-tall wall sign.

Community Development Director Steve Rockwell said the existing PUD did not have details on signage. The amendment defines how tall signs can be for any incoming shops in the PUD, with 4 feet being the maximum for 10,000-square-foot stores and stores that are 20,000 square feet or larger getting 5-foot-tall signs.

“(The Deal$ sign is) in line with what we’ve been doing” at other shops in the development, Rockwell said, citing signage on the nearby OfficeMax store.

The sign will be affixed to the building, Rockwell said, and no freestanding signage will be permitted.
