Business Owner Plans More Than Just a Car Wash

NASCAR-themed business caters to racing fans.

Steve Timmer is excited about plans for his Romeoville business, and he’s confident that local motor-sport fans will soon drive up sales at his facility.

Over the next few weeks, Timmer and his associates will be busy transforming Spotless Express at 1255 Normantown Road into the NASCAR Car Wash.

“We’re obviously excited,” Timmer told village trustees Wednesday night. He said officials from the company had studied demographics across the country and found the Romeoville/Joliet areas to be two of the best sites for their NASCAR-themed venture.

With Chicagoland Motor Speedway just a few miles away — and many NASCAR drivers landing at nearby on race days, the tie-in is a natural, according to Romeoville Mayor John Noak.

And now that the village board has given a green flag to NASCAR Car Wash’s final development plan, the owner is making plans for the final lap. Timmer said he anticipates a grand opening event August 26.

“Wait til you see it,” Timmer said. “Give it two weeks — just wait until the whole thing is done and cars come through the NASCAR-themed tunnel.”

Besides the facility in Romeoville, Timmer is planning to rebrand his existing car washes in Matteson and Aurora. He also has plans to open NASCAR Car Washes at Route 59 and Theodore Street in Joliet, Route 59 and 95th Street in Naperville and a third, yet-to-be-announced location in the area.
