Board Approves Pavilion Project, More Village Parking

Trustees sign off on $245,000 worth of improvements.

An aging pavilion will be replaced at , to the tune of  $71,654.

Romeoville trustees Wednesday agreed to award a contract to The Kenneth Company to replace an outdated structure at the park.

“The Village Park pavilion has seen its day,” said Director of Parks and Recreation Kelly Rajzer. “It’s leaking and in bad shape.”

The project will include a large concrete pad, walkway and shelter, similar to the shelter at , Rajzer said.

The new pavilion will also be ADA compliant, she noted. Village staff will be responsible for taking down the existing shelter.

The Kenneth Company’s previous Romeoville projects include work at and .

Additional parking will accommodate events

Trustees also signed off a $173,352 contract with P.T. Ferro of Joliet to build the first phase of an addition to the municipal parking lot at Village Hall.

The new parking area, located off 135th Street, eventually will include an additional 138 parking spots.

Also Wednesday, a contract was awarded to Ferro to complete the first phase, which includes 10 new parking stalls, new lighting and an access drive to the Romeoville Recreation Center.

“This is a foundation for a bigger project later,” Mayor John Noak said.

The work will help the village accommodate crowds as it hosts events like and the upcoming at its new.
