Bike Path Construction Slated to Begin Soon

The 1,200-foot trail will run alongside the Budler Retail development.

Romeoville cycling enthusiasts will soon have a new trail to blaze.

Village trustees on Wednesday awarded a $57,656 contract to Matthew Paving of Oak Lawn to complete work on the Budler Road bike path.

Village engineer Jon Zabrocki said the 1,200-foot path will begin on the west side of Budler Road near the north end of the vacant Budler Retail development, winding around to Trafalger Drive. The project will connect with an existing path.

Matthew Paving, an Illinois Department of Transportation prequalified contractor, was one of 11 companies to bid on the project, Zabrocki said. The project will be funded by a federal Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block grant.

Mayor John Noak said the path will create a safer bike route for kids.
