Appellate Ruling Puts Dems Back on Will County Ballot

Six Democratic Will County Board candidates, including Donald Moran of , will be on the Nov. 6 election ballot.

The 3rd District Appellate Court ruling Wednesday reversed a decision to keep the names off the ballot made by the Will County Electoral Board and upheld by a Will County judge, according to a story in the Joliet Herald-News.

The candidates were appointed by the Will County Democratic Party because no Democrats ran in the primary. The Will County Republican Party challenged the appointment process, saying there was little to no notification of precinct committeemen before the selections were made, the story said.

Because less than eight weeks remain before the election, which is not enough time for the Illinois Supreme Court to get involved, the appellate decision will stand, the story said.

Moran is seeking a board seat representing District 3. The other candidates who were challenged were Mario Carlasare, Frankfort, District 2; Chester Strzelczyk III, Lockport, District 7; Chris Griffin, Naperville, District 11; and Santino Lettieiri and John Sanchez, both of Mokena, District 12.
