2013 Election: Romeoville Village, School and Library Races

Village President John Noak is in a tough re-election campaign against former Chicago Bear Steve McMichael. Theirs is just one of more than a dozen races for open seats on local governing boards in the April 9 election.

The filing period for municipal elections ended Dec. 26 for the April 9 election. Here's who filed for open elected positions on local governing boards, according to Will County election documents.

Romeoville Village Board

Open Seats:

Five candidates will be elected. The mayor, village clerk and three Romeoville trustee seats are up for election this year.

Candidates:

Incumbent Mayor John Noak is running against political newcomer Steve McMichael — a former Chicago Bear.

Five people filed to run for three trustee seats on the Romeoville Village Board. They are: Jose Chavez Jr. (I), Brian Clancy Sr. (I), David G. Richards (I), Carl Churulo and Richard Love.

Incumbent Bernice Holloway is running unopposed for Village Clerk.

Valley View School District 365

Open Seats:

Candidates:

Four of the seven Valley View School District 365U school board seats will be on the April 2013 ballot. School board terms are four years long. Three incumbents are running for re-election. The candidates are: Tonia Young Barr, Ronnie Bull (I), Elizabeth Campbell (I), Daniel Falese, Chrystal Hansen (I), Jaime Olson, Sinatra Strong, Deborah Sykora.

Plainfield School District 202

Open Seats:

4

Candidates:

Just five candidates are running for the four open positions on the District 202 school board. They are: Michelle Leigh Smith (I) Rod Westfall (I), William Slabich, Jr,. Bill Dargan and P. Anne Walchshauser

Fountaindale Public Library Board

Open Seats:

2

Candidates:

Two Fountaindale Public Library Board of Trustee positions will be on the April 2013 ballot. Two current Fountaindale trustees are running for re-election. Both candidates are currently serving as an officer of the board; Peggy Danhof is the current board president and Kathy Spindel is the current board secretary.
