Friends will gather Thursday night to remember Madison Angus, a Channahon 18-year-old who was killed in an early morning car crash Tuesday.

Angus, who just graduated from Minooka Community High School, was killed when she lost control of her vehicle as she drove west on Tryon Street north of Pawnee Lane in Channahon, police said.

The teen, who was not wearing her seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle, which left the roadway, struck several trees and came to rest in a wooded area, according to Will County Sheriff's Police.

Angus was pronounced dead on the scene of the crash, police said.

According to friends, the teen was on her way home from her job at Oberweis Dairy at the time of the accident. Her parents reported her missing at around 11 p.m. when she did not arrive home, according to the Herald-News.

Police said while speed appears to have been a factor in the crash, alcohol was not.

A candlelight vigil is planned for 9 p.m. Thursday in the Minooka Central parking lot, 301 Wabena Ave. in Minooka. Those who attend are asked to bring candles.
