Romeoville Police: Stolen Gun, $2.75 Million in Drugs Found During Search

Carlos Nieto faces charges of possession of a stolen firearm and possession of cannabis with intent to deliver.

Romeoville police found a stolen handgun, cash and 2,750 pounds of marijuana while executing a search warrant at a Romeoville home last week.

Carlos Nieto, 38, of the 700 block of Rogers Road, was arrested and booked into the Will County jail on charges of possession of a stolen firearm and possession of cannabis with intent to deliver, Deputy Chief Steven Lucchesi said.

Nieto was arrested after police executed a search warrant at his Rogers Road home as part of an ongoing drug investigation, according to Lucchesi.

During the search, police discovered 110 bundles of marijuana, each weighing about 25 pounds, Lucchesi said. More than $14,000 in cash and a stolen .357 revolver were also recovered in the search, he said. According to Lucchesi, the gun was reported stolen in Florida.

The street value of the drugs is more than $2.75 million, police said.

Bond information for Nieto was not available on Wednesday.
