Romeoville Man One of Three Charged With Robbing Juvenile

Leverenzel Booth and two other men were charged with felony robbery Thursday after an incident near Clarendon Hills, the DuPage County Sheriff's Office says.

Charges were announced Friday for three men who sheriff officials said robbed a juvenile near Clarendon Hills late Thursday afternoon.

Kelechukwu Akuba, 20, of the 300 block of Daisy Circle, Romeoville, Leverenzel Booth, 18, of the 7500 block of Farmingdale Drive, Darien, and Jerron Wilbut 19, of the 16W600 block of Mockingbird Lane, Willowbrook, were all charged with one count of robbery, a class 2 felony, according to a release from the DuPage County Sheriff's Office.

Sheriff's spokesperson Dawn Domrose said the incident took place in an unincorporated area near 55th Street and Route 83 at approximately 4 p.m. Thursday.

The three men allegedly let the victim into the vehicle, displayed what was believed to be handgun, robbed him of his currency and property, then released the victim from the vehicle and left the scene. Plans to meet with the juvenile, who was an acquaintance of the three charged, were made ahead of time.

"After a short investigation by sheriff’s detectives, the three suspects and property were located, and taken into custody," the release reads.

All three men are currently at DuPage County Jail awaiting bond hearings.
