Romeoville Man Must Stay at Joliet Jail After Refusing to Leave Joliet Hotel: Cops

A Romeoville man was arrested after he was allegedly unruly at a downtown Joliet hotel.

A Romeoville raised a ruckus at a downtown Joliet hotel and continued to act out after he landed in the Will County jail, police said.

James Leo, 39, of 32 Arlington Drive was charged with aggravated battery to a peace officer, resisting a correctional officer and criminal trespass to land in connection with the alleged series of incidents that started at Joliet's Plaza Hotel about 8:30 p.m. Sunday.

A clerk at the 26 W. Clinton St. hotel repeatedly told Leo to leave, police said. But Leo stuck around, the cops were summoned and once they arrived he allegedly called an officer the N-word.

Leo went on to resist when officers tried to and ultimately succeeded in handcuffing him, police said.

Leo then went to jail where he was "verbally abusive," police said. He also allegedly slapped an officer in the arm.
