A 41-year-old Romeoville man was killed early Monday in a crash at Weber and Taylor roads, police said.

Cmdr. Ken Kroll said Don Trasmonte was pronounced dead at Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital following the 5:15 a.m. crash.

Police said a green 2005 Dodge was heading south on Weber when it struck Trasmonte's Mitsubishi, which was traveling east on Taylor and making a left turn onto Weber road.

Romeoville police detained the driver of the Dodge, a 30-year-old from Crest Hill, for investigation following the crash. The crash remains under investigation, police said.

The Lockport Township Fire Protection Department and the Romeoville Fire Department responded to the crash, according to police.

Just a short time ago I was going North on Weber, making a left turn onto Romeo Rd. The light turned red for me to make my turn & I decided to wait that one second because the car going South on Weber looked like it wasn't going to stop. I was right! The car in back of me was beeping for me to go, not seeing the car running a red light. That, my friends, is how accidents (carelessness) happen. Why is everyone in such a hurry? I'm wondering if this is how the accident happened this morning on Taylor.

Very tragic how lives can be changed forever by a split second decision. No do overs allowed. Condolences to the family. RIP.

Rest in Paradise Don. My heart aches for you and your family during this difficult time. You were such a funny, amazing, great guy. You were taken from us way too soon. Your Heartland family will miss you tremendously. Rest easy Don </3

I was heading to the gas station by Jewel that morning and seen the aftermath. So tragic and senseless I about cried. My condolences go out to the family and friends of the victim. I live over in the Lakewood Falls subdivision. Weber road is crazy. People need to pay attention and obey the speed limit. God, this was so senseless. God bless.

Said it before i'll say it again. Until they get another exit off of 55 (schmitt rd) or (international parkway) you will have problems with weber road and large trucks. The traffic that backs up almost to the old dominicks store in the morning and afternoons is cause by I55 and weber, and just makes a mess of the rest of the roads heading east and west to get onto weber. I think romeoville is doing a study but to me it pretty obvious. Let's hope they get this done sooner than later.
