Romeoville Man Faces Child Porn Charges

Jason Warcholek was arrested following an investigation by the Will County State's Attorney's Office's High-Technology Crimes Unit.

A 31-year-old Romeoville man faces felony charges after a search warrant turned up evidence of child porn possession, according to the Will County State's Attorney's Office.

Jason Paul Warcholek, of the 200 block of Hayes Avenue, was arrested Thursday and booked into the county jail. He's charged with six counts of child pornography possession, a Class 2 felony punishable by three to seven years in prison if he's convicted.

Will County State's Attorney's Office spokesman Chuck Pelkie said Warcholek was arrested following an investigation by the SAO's High-Technology Crimes Unit.

"They track the trading of child pornography over the Internet and track it to the IP users and build a case from that," Pelkie said. The unit was established about two years ago.

According to Pelkie, investigators allege that Warcholek was in possession of digital videos "with depictions of children [Warcholek] knew to be under age 13 engaged in acts of sexual conduct."

Romeoville Deputy Police Chief Steven Lucchesi said Romeoville police assisted with executing a search warrant at Warcholek's home.

Warcholek appeared in Will County court on Friday. His bond was set at $100,000. He remains in custody at the Will County jail and would need to post 10 percent, or $10,000, to secure his release, according to jail records.
