A Romeoville man who worked as a U.S. Army recruiter has been arrested for sexually assaulting a young girl for two years, beginning when she was 11 years old, according to a Will County Sheriff's Office report.
Justino Muniz-Munoz, 43, allegedly had sexual contact with the victim several times between 2009 and 2011 while she and her mother were living in the unincorporated Romeoville area, sheriff's office spokesman Kathy Hoffmeyer said.
Muniz-Munoz, described as a family friend, was arrested on a warrant charging predatory criminal sexual assault and booked into the Will County jail Oct. 26.
The situation came to light when the victim, who is now 14 and lives out of state, confided in a school staff member, Hoffmeyer said. The U.S. Army Investigation Division was notified and assisted the sheriff's office in its investigation, she said.
Muniz-Munoz is being held at the jail in lieu of $300,000 bond; his next court appearance is Dec. 3.
