Romeoville Cops Net 2 DUIs & Issue 47 Seat Belt Citations During Mobilization

Projected supported by IDOT ran from Nov. 18 to Dec. 1 as law enforcement agencies attempted to crack down on unbuckled motorists and impaired drivers.

Romeoville police arrested two suspected drunk drivers and issued 47 seat belt citations during the course of a Click It or Ticket/Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over mobilization project supported by IDOT.

The project ran from Nov. 18 to Dec. 1 as Romeoville police joined other state and local law enforcement agencies across Illinois in an attempt to reduce highway fatalities by cracking down on unbuckled motorists and impaired drivers.

During the mobilization, Romeoville police reported the following results:

  • 47 seat belt citations
  • 2 DUI arrests
  • 2 fugitives apprehended
  • 2 suspended/revoked license arrests
  • 13 uninsured motorist arrests
  • 3 speeding citations
  • 1 drug arrest

And local officers are not done yet, according to Romeoville Police Sergeant Christopher Burne.

"Our officers are out all year long," Burne stated in a news release outlining results of the recent mobilization project. "If you or your passengers are caught not wearing a seat belt, day or night, you will be cited for the safety violation."
