Police Plan July 4 Enforcement

It goes without saying, but don't drink and drive; more officers will be on Romeoville streets this weekend.

With the July 4 holiday looming, the is preparing for an increased need for police presence.

“We do plan on having more officers patrolling the village due to an expected increase in calls for service,” Assistant Chief Steven Lucchesi said.

Officers will also be out in full force for the village’s July 3 Independence Day celebration, Lucchesi said.

“[They] will be directing traffic afterward to assist attendees with a quicker exit from the area as traffic can get pretty backed up,” he said.

The village’s kicks off with a performance by Chicago-based band BBI at 7 p.m. at the amphitheater, followed by a fireworks display around 9 p.m. at .
