Busts Made in Pizza Deliveryman, Store Robberies, Car Theft Case

Joliet police say they have a man in custody who has confessed to the two armed robberies, and another man was picked up at the same time for auto theft.

A Joliet man has confessed to robbing a Domino's Pizza deliveryman Sunday and a small East Side store Monday night, Joliet police said.

Joliet tactical officers, acting on a tip, interviewed Javier R. Reyna, 20, and Jesus Tenorio, 22, Tuesday as possible suspects in the two cases, Cmdr. Rich Demick said. Tenorio admitted to his participation in both armed holdups.

Reyna refused to speak with police, but was arrested on a Mokena Police Department warrant for possession of a stolen vehicle, Demick said.

"The (tactical) guys do a fantastic job going after guys like this," he said. "They're always working."

Police had been seeking two Hispanic men accused of using a handgun to steal cash, a cell phone and two pizzas Sunday night in the 300 block of Columbia Street. Tenorio lives at 357 Columbia.

The same suspects were believed to have also robbed My Little Store, 653 Collins St., on Monday night. In that case, the men entered the shop at about 7:15 p.m., displayed a weapon and demanded the clerk turn over all of the cash in the register -- about $200 -- and a cell phone, Demick said.

In both cases, the men fled on foot.

Tenorio was charged with two counts of armed robbery, and is being held in the Will County jail in lieu of $150,000 bond.

In addition to the car theft warrant, Reyna, of 308 Willow Ave., was also arrested on a second warrant for failure to appear at a court hearing. He's being held in the county jail in lieu of $75,000 bond.

Jail records, which are not complete, show that Reyna has had previous arrests for possession of a controlled substance in 2011 and manufacture/delivery of 10 to 30 grams of cannabis in 2013.
