Police Blotter: Vandals Target Vehicles

Incidents reported by Romeoville Police, Aug. 8-15.

Aug. 8

1. Car damaged at HightPoint

A resident reported that someone used an unknown object to damage the roof of a car parked in a public parking area in the 1300 block of Highpoint, causing $100 in damage, police said.

Aug. 9

2. Graffiti artist strikes

A vandal used spray paint to damage the garage door at a home in the 500 block of Kenyon, police said. Estimated cost to remove the paint is $100.

3. Tire slashed, window damaged

Someone used a sharp object to cause damage to a tire, exterior and passenger window of a car parked in the driveway of a residence in the 400 block of Elle.

Aug. 10

4. $100,000 worth of metal sheets stolen

A thief or thieves stole $100,000 worth of brass sheeting rolls stored in the warehouse at a business in the 900 block of Chicago Tube Drive.

Aug. 12

5. Car window shattered

Someone used a blunt object to break the window of a car parked in a driveway in the 200 block of Hemlock, causing $300 in damage.

6. Vehicle burglaries reported on Lakeview Drive

Several customers at a business in the 1200 block of Lakeview reported vehicle break-ins. Tools and electronics worth between $1,000 and $2,500 were stolen, police said.

Aug. 13

7 and 8. More tires slashed

All four tires on a vehicle were damaged while it was parked in front of a home in the 700 block of Belmont. Police estimated the cost to repair the damage is $450. Two tires on another vehicle parked on the same block were also damaged, to the tune of $300.

Aug. 15

9. Vandal breaks window

An unknown object was used to break the window of a car parked in a business parking lot, causing $200 in damage, police said.
