Police Blotter: Resident Sees the Writing on the Walls After Burglary

Incidents reported by Romeoville Police, Oct. 9-13.

Oct. 9

1. Burglary, vandalism at local home

Someone entered a home in the 500 block of Anna Lane through the back door, causing damage to the basement ceiling and writing on the bedroom walls, police said. A sump pump was also taken from the basement. Estimated cost of the damage and the sump pump is $500.

2. Business burgled, but nothing taken

A thief broke into a business in the 400 block of New Avenue, damaging a side metal door and an electric control box in the process, but appears not to have taken anything, police said. Estimated cost to repair the damage is $500.

Oct. 11

3. Computer, monitor stolen

Someone nabbed a desktop computer and monitor, worth an estimated $580, from a business under construction in the 200 block of Normantown, police said.

Oct. 12

4. Telephone cable stolen

One-hundred pairs of phone cables, worth $1,000, were reported stolen from a fenced-in area behind a business in the 100 block of Devonwood, police said.

5. Spooky scenery stolen

Someone stole a Jason/“Friday the 13th” hockey mask and a second mask modeled after Michael Myers from "Halloween" from a front-yard display in the 1900 block of Somerset, police said. Estimated value of the masks is $100.

Oct. 13

6. Property damage, theft

A vandal or vandals damaged a garden in the back yard of a residence in the 0-100 block of Chelton and stole or damaged several pieces of wooden framing, according to police. Estimated cost of the missing or damaged parts is $200.

7. Stolen iPad

Someone stole a first-generation iPad and a CD-R, worth a total of $500, from a business in the 200 block of Weber Road, police said.
